Victory Midfielder Says Bosnich Is Preparing For A Comeback

MARK Bosnich might not seem like the most likely mentor for a young player trying to make his way in the game, but the former Socceroo shot stopper has made a big impression on Melbourne Victory's new midfielder Nick Ward.

The duo became friends during Ward's unhappy spell at Queens Park Rangers, the West London club where Bosnich is training and trying to regain fitness after descending into his own personal hell of drug addiction after being dumped by Chelsea in 2002.

The ex-Manchester United and Socceroo goalkeeper has reportedly lost 20 kilograms and is determined, even at the age of 35, to rekindle his career. Ward has no doubt that the Sydneysider is good enough to get back on top and that he could again play at the highest level.

"He's done really really well. I think 100% he will (play at the top level) again. His mentality is great. He's just obsessed with football now. Shooting against him, he's back to his best.

"He's got his eyes set on at least playing Championship, but he's really hoping to get back to the (English) Premiership." -- MICHAEL LYNCH
